SoftAtHome Enables Ultra Broadband Connectivity on Broadcom Latest Chipsets
SoftAtHome and Broadcom pave the way to ultra broadband connectivity with a renewed cooperation on two key technologies:
10Gbps PON and Wi-Fi 802.11ax
CES 2018, Las Vegas (NV) – January 9th, 2018 – SoftAtHome (Venetian Suite 31-216), the software provider for operators enabling convergent services for the digital home, announces today its renewed cooperation with Broadcom Limited (NASDAQ: AVGO), a leading designer, developer and global supplier of a broad range of analog and digital semiconductor connectivity solutions, in two key technologies for Broadband connectivity: 10Gbps PON and Wi-Fi 802.11ax.
End-users now consume content in new ways such as multiple on-demand high-resolution video streams, music streaming or network sensitive on-line gaming. Operators need to provide sufficient quality of service so that their subscribers can seamlessly consume these kinds of content at home.
10 Gigabit PON enables operators to offer a 10-fold improvement over the best current Access offers, while 802.11ax will deliver up to a four-fold increase in aggregate Wi-Fi throughput within the home compared to current 11ac technology. Broadcom’s new Max WiFi technology improves efficiency thanks to OFDMA and allows home networks to support a greater density of wireless devices at increased speeds.
SoftAtHome has implemented ConnectAtHome, its Access software solution, with key Broadcom chipsets: BCM68580 (10Gbps PON) and BCM43684 (Max WiFi 802.11ax), enabling multi-gigabit Wi-Fi speeds to be delivered with zero host CPU consumption. This allows SoftAtHome’s ConnectAtHome software to run on the Host CPU along with the future expandability of future applications and services.
“SoftAtHome has established a long-term cooperation with Broadcom and we are proud to have worked with them since our creation ten years ago,” said David Viret-Lange, CEO of SoftAtHome. “Connectivity needs to become as easy as the air we breathe. With this cooperation on 10Gbps PON and 802.11ax, we are remaining at the forefront of innovation to deliver the best experience to end-users.”
“Our leadership and technology expertise in high-performance broadband connectivity solutions and our cooperation with independent home gateway software vendor SoftAtHome, will accelerate the deployment of next generation ultra-broadband connectivity around the world,” added Greg Fischer, Vice President Broadband of Broadcom.
