Broadband World Forum 2014: SoftAtHome Demonstrates Solutions To Extend The Digital Home
With its new solution CloudAtHome and new features for the ConnectAtHome service platform designed for home gateways, SoftAtHome simplifies user experiences and services for the digital home
Broadband World Forum 2014, Amsterdam – October 20, 2014 – SoftAtHome (Stand D44), a provider of home operating platforms enabling convergent services for the digital home, will showcase its latest solutions that liberate the full potential of the home gateway as a comprehensive hub for controlling the evolving digital home. This year, SoftAtHome solutions have been shortlisted for two Broadband Infovision awards: Swisscom’s Internet-Box, powered by SoftAtHome, is selected in the Best Broadband Access Innovation – Fixed category; and the ‘Cast’ dongle from SoftAtHome is selected in the Best Customer Experience Innovation category.
At the same time SoftAtHome’s Chief technology Officer, Wojtek Makowski, will discuss virtualization issues and potential benefits during a Think Tank Debate on Day 1 of the Broadband World Forum at 2.20 pm. He will argue that virtualization does have huge potential benefits if blended carefully with existing domestic networks and equipment.
“We are very pleased to see two of our solutions shortlisted for the Broadband Infovision Awards this year and we want to thank Swisscom for trusting us on Internet-Box, candidate for an award”, said Michel Degland, CEO of SoftAtHome. “It illustrates how our SOP product family is gaining recognition as a comprehensive advanced services platform by operators, combining media and emerging smart home services, such as hybrid access mixing 4G/LTE and DSL line to deliver more advanced services to the end-user. Our software also enables operators to exploit emerging opportunities around the Internet of Things within the Home, allowing end-users to retrieve control of their home environment.”
On stand D44, SoftAtHome will reveal its next generation access solution, mixing 4G/LTE mobile and DSL lines, increasing the range and reliability of high bandwidth services. This will enable broadband operators to deliver more aggregate bandwidth and therefore additional services, while extending reach to customers previously poorly served because they live a long way from the nearest DSLAM for DSL access.
With MyHomeServices, end-users are in control of their own home network, with an easy to use applications framework for managing services and solving connectivity issues. MyHomeServices also cuts costs for the operator by reducing hotline calls.
SoftAtHome will also be featuring its CloudAtHome platform at Broadband World Forum this year. By extending cloud technologies to the home, this helps operators delivering premium services, which have the potential to dramatically simplify the user-experience in the home. Operators will be able to exploit the full benefits of centralized content access backup, energy, comfort and other emerging services.
CloudAtHome includes two components that will be showcased on Stand D44:
MediaCloud, a complete NAS service enabling content backup, protection and sharing from any device at home, and an Internet of Things hub, that offers the ability to manage all connected devices with a centralized home data.
These demos illustrate the advance of SoftAtHome solutions all based on SOP7, its latest software release. SOP7 brings new innovative features to the market and enables Operators to address new territories with for instance, the advent of Internet of things as a major track for operators, the emergence of a new TV consumption paradigm with Cast technologies.
Meet SoftAtHome on Stand D44, RAI Amsterdam during Broadband World Forum from 21st to 23rd of October 2014.
